Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlets and devices that help protect people from shock hazards in wet or moisture-prone areas. GFCI devices sense an imbalance between outgoing and returning AC current and disconnect power to reduce electric-shock risk. Select correct voltage, amperage, device format and protective location under the applicable installation standards. Receptacle-level GFCI protection differs from whole-vessel ELCI shore-power leakage protection; both may be required for different purposes.
