Who We Are & What we Do

Why Wards?

For more than 75 years, Wards Marine Electric has been helping keep the marine industry powered, connected, and moving forward.

We bring together deep marine expertise, experienced technicians, engineering capabilities, and hands-on service. From new construction and refits to dockside troubleshooting, surveys, engineering, panel production, and ongoing support, Wards understands the electrical systems that keep today’s vessels operating safely and reliably.

Experience Matters

Our team has worked across generations of vessels, technologies, and increasingly complex electrical systems. That experience allows us to identify problems, understand the bigger picture, and develop solutions that work in the real world; not just on paper.

We Know Marine

Marine electrical systems demand a different level of knowledge. Harsh environments, tight spaces, complex power requirements, classification standards, and vessel-specific systems all require specialized expertise. Given our extensive history with ABYC, our work is built around those challenges.

We Stay with the Vessel

Wards isn't just there to complete one job. We build relationships with owners, captains, builders, yards, engineers, and management companies so we can support a vessel throughout its life.

One team. Multiple capabilities.

Electrical service. Engineering. Refits. Surveys. Panel production. Marine supply. Dockside service. Showroom. Painting.Whatever the vessel needs, Wards brings the people and resources together to get it done.

The Wards difference is simple:

Experience you can trust.
Expertise you can depend on.
Service that keeps you moving.

That’s Why Wards.

Our History

Four Generations

Born from Ward Eshleman Sr.’s passion for boating and expertise in electrical systems, Wards Marine Electric has been a beacon of innovation, craftsmanship, and trust since 1950.

What began in a Fort Lauderdale garage has grown into a leading name in the marine electrical industry, built over more than seven decades and carried forward through four generations. While the industry has evolved, our commitment to quality, service, and the people we work with has remained at the heart of everything we do.

Today, Wards has grown beyond its Fort Lauderdale roots, expanding our reach with three additional locations and a growing team serving the marine industry across multiple markets. With each generation, we have continued to build on the foundation established by Ward Eshleman Sr. embracing new technology, expanding our capabilities, and finding better ways to serve our customers.

Four generations later, we’re still family-owned, still marine-focused, and still moving forward.

That’s Wards.
